The story
The little girl who inspired a mission
Since 2017, we had been visiting a community and providing food to people living there. A nearby church was part of the life of the area, and our church also supported the local pastor's ministry. Through those visits, we began to know the families and the difficulties they faced.
One day, a little girl named Keku approached me and said, "I am collecting money because I want to set my family free." Her words deeply touched me. I spoke with my husband, Naeem, about her situation, and that conversation became the beginning of our Rescue Mission.
We were able to help secure freedom for Keku's family. They became our first rescue, and their story gave a personal beginning to a mission concerned with the dignity and future of families affected by exploitative brick-kiln labour and debt bondage.
Since that beginning, we have helped approximately 25 families from that area find freedom, dignity, and renewed hope. What began with one little girl's desire to free her family has grown into a commitment to stand alongside other families as they look towards a different future.
Sumbal Aishat was a dedicated woman leader serving in our Brick Kiln Mission in Faisalabad on our behalf. Tragically, she and her husband lost their lives in an incident, leaving behind their two young daughters. With love and compassion, we took both girls under our care and adopted them as our own. Today, Saima Rasheed continues serving in the Brick Kiln Mission in Faisalabad, working alongside us while we are based in Islamabad. She carries forward our shared mission of serving vulnerable families and bringing hope to those in need.
